It’s out with Matric Dance Season and in with Grade 11 dances, it’s a time of year where not only matric students get to enjoy their high school career but something grade 11 students can also anticipate and look forward to.
After finding the perfect Grade 11 dance dress it’s time to spice up your dress with some accessories. Accessories can get tricky; it can either make or break your dress. Accessories depend a lot on the type of dress you have chosen. I would say keep your accessories young and fresh or funky and edgy, have fun with it! Next year can be your time to go elegant and sophisticated with your accessories.
Accessories don’t only have to be shoes, earrings, necklaces etc. They can include clutch bags, the colour of your nails, even hand chains or head chains. Try to add something different to your Grade 11 dance dress like a hand chain or head chain; those types of accessories are very trendy at the moment.
It is very important to accessorize according to the simplicity or detail of your dress. If your dress has a lot of detail your accessories should be quite simple and minimal, example: earrings, a ring or even a bracelet paired with a simple less detailed clutch bag depending on what accessories you prefer. If your dress is simple and chic you can really play around and have fun accessorising! You could choose to wear a pretty head chain and add a stunning clutch bag depending on the look you are going for. Big, chunky chains paired with stud earrings and maybe even a ring which could also look very glam depending again on the look that you prefer. You could also choose to keep your accessories very bare and just go with a pair of outstanding earrings and play around with your nails and a clutch bag. Fancy nails can be a funky addition to your accessories, it’s your grade 11 dance so add some colour to your nails or even metallic; leave the French tips and nude colours for your matric dance.
Accessories are very personal so it totally depends on the type of person you are and your personal style but don’t be afraid to try something new and have a ball accessorizing from head to toe. Accessorizing is very simple, start with your dress and what style and type of detail you prefer and then take it from there, accessorizing will come naturally and be a breeze after that!
