Sequin, chiffon, beaded, long, short, what dress style are you going to choose for your super fun grade 11 dance dress this year!?
It may seem like your dance dress life is absolute chaos and no idea what dress style to go for, but that’s what I will help you organise, making your dress style selection easier and a whole lot less complicated! You just need to select your dress style from three different cuts, and then select your favourite fabric to match your selected style.
So the first dress style is the very popular fitted bodycon cocktail dress. This style works best for most girls as you are all young and beautiful and should celebrating those perfect figures. The fitted bodycon is versatile in terms of the length, it can be a mini which is above the knee, it can be just on the knee, or it can be a midi length which is very trendy at the moment. The fabric best suited for this style is usually the more figure hugging fabrics with stretch in them, or exquisite detailed fabric as well as the timeless sequin. Another way to take your dress to the next level would be to embrace the short long style. This style is the basic bodycon dress, with a transparent skirt added to the dress, usually with a soft chiffon or even a few layers of soft sheers.
The second dress style is the fit and flare. This style also works for all figures, and is especially fitting for girls with a more conservative style, or for those who are looking for a more softer pretty look. The great thing about this style is it can be adjusted to your body shape, the fit can be just under the busts, into the waist, or a fully fitted bodice. The best fabric for this style is chiffon. You can have fun with the bodice and go for a heavily detailed fabric, and a simple soft chiffon skirt. This style can also be worn short or long, without it affecting the bodice.
The third dress style if the very elegant shift dress. I find that girls with slightly more curves tend to wear this style a bit better although it looks great on all figures. This style is my favourite as you can really have fun with your fabric choice, there really are no limitations with what fabric to choose, or what works best, you can from a soft chiffon, to a stiff linen. You can play around with the sleeves, you could keep it simple and go crazy with bold accessories, or you could go to town with fully beaded fabrics fabrics. The only limitation of the shift dress style is it is best worn short, by short i merely mean a dress that is not a full length dress, it might make you look a bit too boxy and hide those gorgeous curves. So keep this style short and classy.
The most important style tip for your Grade 11 Dance dress is to love what you wear and to feel comfortable. And lastly, this works with all dresses, for all occasions, if you have to ask yourself if its too short, its probably too short, and if you have to ask yourself if its too long, its probably too long. Be comfortable and love your dress, you have to wear it for the rest of the night!
